Sector Wide Approach to Strengthening Health ( SWASTH )

Gender is a key cross-sectoral theme which BTAST has worked on through various programmes that being undertaken by the three nodal departments for SWASTH and most importantly through the Women’s Development Corporation (WDC). 
Primarily this has included:
  • Strengthening capacities and institutionalised processes for an improved response to gender and social equity concerns across the various sectors.
  • Facilitating women’s empowerment at the grassroots level through participatory learning approaches that focus on awareness and behaviour change on HNWASH issues. 
  • Helping build a strong and co-ordinated response and redressal mechanism onviolence against women.

While the new Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) define the development discourse at the global level, initiatives such as the Sector Wide Approach to Strengthening Health, in Bihar are contributing in their own ways towards making these goals a reality


BTAST’s knowledge sharing meet brings together cross-sectoral experts to give a fillip to development in the state.


BTAST plans to organise a cross-sectoral knowledge sharing meet on 18th December, 2015. The main purpose of the Cross-sectoral Knowledge Sharing group is to initiate a ‘knowledge sharing forum’.
